Itinerary

Stop At: Placa Reial, 08002 Barcelona Spain

This square is so beautiful, it's no wonder it was named "royal" (reial Catalan for royal). The elegant ambience of the Plaça Reial is accentuated by the fountain, streetlamps and palm trees, and it is one of Barcelona's busiest, most vibrant spots, particularly at night. This is Barcelona's best-loved porticoed square.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Palau de la Musica Catalana, Carrer Palau de la Musica, 4-6, 08003 Barcelona Spain

Strangely enough, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the so-called "building that epitomises Catalan art nouveau" wasn't designed by Gaudí, but by his contemporary Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Barcelona, 1850-1923). This concert hall in Barcelona, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an artistic landmark of outstanding beauty and a highly prestigious music venue.

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: Barcelona Cathedral, Pla de la Seu, S/N, 08002 Barcelona Spain

Barcelona Cathedral is at the heart of the Gothic Quarter and is said by many to be without a doubt the biggest expression of gothic architecture of Barcelona. It has a rich history owing to the fact that the site it was built spans 1000+ years. But don't be fooled! The cathedral today is not the same as the one that was built ages ago, rather the facade we see today was renovated as part of the 1929 Universal Exhibition in the Neo-gothic style, not original Gothic style which was much more plain.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Basilica de Santa Maria del Pi, Plaza Del Pi, 7, 08002 Barcelona Spain

In the Catalan Gothic style, this church was built on top of a building of the proto-Christians before the V century, but the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi we see today was completed in the sixteenth century. The facade features an enormous rose window that spans 10 metres in diameter. This alone is worth seeing. However, try not to miss the view from the Belfry at 55 meters high and well equipped with six large bells.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Las Ramblas, La Rambla, 08002 Barcelona Spain

La Rambla, also known as Las Ramblas, is one of Barcelona’s main thoroughfares and one of the most visited areas in the city. This fascinating artery is 0.8 miles (1,3 km) long and connects Plaça de Catalunya with the city’s old port.

Las Ramblas is always lively, packed with tourists, locals and street artists who pose like living statues. Numerous terraces and restaurants are located on both sides of the street and it is very enjoyable to sit in one of its terraces to see people come and go, although be warned that the prices are a little high, since this is a very touristic area.
