About this activity

We'll meet at southern end of Calella beach, right at the start of Via Brava swimming itinerary for a welcome briefing and some warm-up swimming exercises. Then we'll jump into the water and will swim in a non-competitive way for 1000m. with a qualified local swim guide to reach Roca Grossa island. Once there, we'll observe an important group of marine birds and our guide will give us some technical skills to improve open water swimming. Then the entire group will return back, either by swimming or walking along the coastal path to Calella beach.

We'll swim into quiet narrow cristal clear water between rocks and sand to explore and enjoy swimming in this incredible spot in Costa Barcelona. The Costa Barcelona has crystal crear warm waters and an extraordinary flora and fauna. Posidonia oceanica fields and a seabed of rocks or sand are the main environments found on the Vies Braves itineraries, with starfish, salema porgy, pomfret, white seabream, crabs, octopus, and more.

At Calella, we’ll have typical Catalan breakfast with local products in a restaurant right on the beach.

The guide will provide a Safety buoy and a swimming cap for each swimmer.

Water temperature will be nice and warm from July to October—20-24ºC—so a wetsuit won't be required.
