My husband and I love to visit wineries when we travel, and our favorite visits are always at small, family wineries where you get to meet the winemaker and taste wines that we can't find at home in an intimate environment. This is not that kind of tour. You'll be on a large bus with 30-40 other tourists and you'll visit large scale, commercial wineries with international distribution. One of the other frustrations was that there was no lunch break. I knew that lunch wasn't included, but assumed that meant that we'd stop somewhere and have time to buy our own lunch, but that wasn't the case. The only food available during the ~8 hour day were the meager nibbles at the wineries (crackers and olives at Jean Leon, four small pieces of cheese and a few crackers at Torres, and some pan con tomate, chips, and a small shared charcuterie plate at Freixenet). I'm really glad we had a decent breakfast at our hotel before we left, but we were downright FAMISHED by the time the tour was over. This is a good tour for those who are wine novices, but if you're an experienced enotourist, you may be happier with a different tour.I did very much enjoy the opportunity to taste the grapes of lots of different varietals at Jean Leon and Torres, but I wished more of the wines we tasted had been uniquely Spanish. At Jean Leon, there was one taste of a "reserva" cab, and I paid extra for a second taste of a "gran reserva" cab. At Torres, we tasted a Moscatel/Gewürtztraminer, a merlot, a cab, and a muscatel. My husband and I paid extra to taste a brandy, but we were rushed and didn't really get to enjoy it. At Freixenet, we tasted a (white) cava and a rose cava, and I paid extra to get a glass of a different rose cava. Ultimately, we enjoyed the day, but wish we would have picked a different (smaller) tour that gave us the opportunity to taste varietals that are unique to Spain and the Penedes region.

This was a very nice and informative tour to the 3 different wineries from the small batch winery to the large scale production at Freixenet. It was a larger group tour than we expected 20 but the bus ride from Barcelona was very comfortable and we never felt the group was too big. The tour guide and the winery guides were knowledgeable and the food pairings at Torress and Freixnet were excellent and well proportioned. We were there during the harvesting Sept so it was an added bonus to walk through the vines grown for tastings and sample the various grapes. The tour bus pickup / drop off point is very close to the Plaza Catalunya square in Barcelona.

Tour was great, the scenery was wonderful and you get about 10 full sized pours, plus cheese at Torres and Tapas at Frexinet! Tour at Torres and Freixenet was very informative.
