Stop At: Shaftesbury Abbey Museum & Garden, Park Walk, Shaftesbury SP7 8JR England

The route to the south coast takes us through some beautiful ´Thomas Hardy´countryside. Our first stop is Shaftesbury, an old market town and home to the famous, cobbled Gold Hill. Here you get the chance to have a quick refreshment stop with a scenic view from outside the Abbey Museum.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, West Lulworth England

At Lulworth Cove you can stroll along the beach of look out to sea from the cafe, a converted boat shed. Here you have the option to take a short walk along the coastal path to the magnificent rock arch of Durdle Door, formed from the Portland limestone beds. (early lunch stop option if not walking to Durdle Door)
NB* The coastal path walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door takes approximately 30 minutes each way.


Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

Stop At: The Square, Corfe Castle BH20 5EZ England

Continuing our journey eastwards, we head towards Corfe, where the castle ruins tower above the village. Here there is plenty to do and see: visit the castle itself with views across the sea and land, Take lunch in a cafe or pub, browse through the galleries and antique shops, take a short ride on the steam railway or visit the model village complete with castle, all in miniature and set in an English tea garden. (lunch stop option). Optional admission to Corfe Castle is not included (free to National Trust members).

Stop At: Salisbury Cathedral and Magna Carta, 6 The Close, Salisbury SP1 2EF England

On the way back we will break the journey half an hour stop in the beautiful city of Salisbury. We may be lucky enough to catch Evensong at the Cathedral. Admission to Salisbury Cathedral is by donation towards the running costs of the cathedral.
