Stonehenge and Beer - Day Trip from Bath

1 day
Full Day
About this activity
This full day tour allows you to experience the region's most famous attraction, Stonehenge, an ancient stone monument that dates back to 3000 BC. The site has captured people's imagination for hundreds of years and archaeologists are still trying to unravel its many mysteries. Stonehenge and the surrounding area was used for a number of rituals and celebrations. As it is one of the oldest drinks in the world it is quite possible that beer featured in these ancient celebrations - so it seems appropriate to celebrate the end of your tour with a visit (& tasting) at a traditional local brewery! Beer has played a significant role in the daily culture of the British people and you haven't really experienced England until you have tried a sip!

Your guide will collect you from your hotel in Bath at 8:30am and drive you by private vehicle to Stonehenge. On route you will stop to visit one of the region's unusual landmarks - an animal painting that has been carved into the side of a hill. At Stonehenge you will have a private guided tour of the famous stone circle where you will have lots of opportunities to take photos of one of England's most internationally recognized landmarks and learn about its history and the latest archaeological discoveries.

After exploring Stonehenge you will visit a local English pub for lunch before continuing to the local Wadworth Brewery. The Wadworth Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in the region, dating back to 1875. It is the only brewery to have an onsite sign-writing workshop where skilled craftsmen make the signs that hang outside the brewery's 200+ pubs. It is also one of the few breweries to still deliver beer by horse and cart to pubs in the local vicinity. You will join the public tour of their traditional Victorian tower brewery where you will get an insight into the different stages of the brewing process. The tour ends with a tasting session of their popular beers and the opportunity to buy some beer souvenirs before you are driven back to your hotel in Bath.

There are limited spaces on the public brewery tour so advance booking is strongly recommended. The price includes your admission into Stonehenge and the public brewery tour. Lunch is not included. The tour does not operate on a Saturday or a Sunday.
