About this activity
Meet your guide in the morning or afternoon in your hotel, then take a cab or subway to the Lama Temple, the largest and best-preserved lamasery in Beijing. It was built in 1694 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) as the residence of the Emperor Yongzheng (the third emperor of the Qing Dynasty) before he ascended the throne. In the year 1744, the residence was completely converted into a lamasery.

In the Lama Temple, you will have a short Monk Blessing Ceremony. Blessing, also known as enlightened. That is, when the new Buddha statue or Buddha painting to be placed in the temple or when the believers invited the Buddha statue who wants to worship, then the Buddhist ceremony will be held by inviting monks to chant and blessing. Now, people have given it a wider meaning. The blessings of a Buddhist monk will lead to a long, healthy and peaceful life.

You will get a string of beads or a bracelet from your tour guide. Follow your guide to a blessing room, then give the bracelet to the eminent monk. The other people may have a amulet, Buddha Statues and etc. With the beginning of the ceremony, the monks chanting, you will get Inner Peace.

After that, you can have the bracelet for Good Luck.

Then walk through a beautiful street to visit the Temple of Confucius and Imperial College. The Temple is the largest and most renowned temple of Confucius in East Asia. Built in 1302 and greatly expanded over the years to now occupy a 20,000 sq m (215,278 sq ft) site. The Imperial College stands next to the Confucius Temple, in the same grounds. It was first established in 1306, served as the supreme administrative headquarters for the organization of education and the highest seat of learning during the Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. Guozijian is the only imperial college from ancient times preserved up to now.

Followed by discovering the old Beijing culture at Wudaoying Hutong. This renovated hutong is a mix of old fashioned hutong and chic western stores, holds all kinds of Western comforts, from coffee, fast food to fine dining. Your guide will share with you some the history and some interesting stories about this real Beijing neighborhood along the way.

Your tour ends here when your guide can help you to find a taxi home or shows you the subway station.
