Stop At: Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang), West Changan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100006 China
8am: Guide picks travelers up at their hotel lobby and onto Tiananmen Square. Tiananman i.e. "The Gate of Heavenly Peace," is considered one of China's grandest sights; equally expansive and awe-inspiring, it's emptiness is the embodiment of governmental might. Built following traditional Chinese feng shui methodology, the square sits in the center of Beijing's North-South axis, which is central to the city's planning and the diffusion of power. To the east lies the mammoth National History Museum, while on the west is the Great Hall of the People. To the south, you'll see the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, where the Great Helmsman Mao Zedong lies to this day.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Forbidden City-The Palace Museum, No.4 Jingshanqian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100009 China
~9am: Travelers enter the world-famous Forbidden City (Palace Museum) from the South Gate under the watchful eye of Mao Zedong. Our professional guide will then take you through the Forbidden City, which from 1420 to 1900 was home to 24 Chinese emperors who lived, worked, and ruled China from this sprawling, 9,999-room complex as was dictated to them by the heavens above. It remains one of the largest and most preserved wooden structures in the world.
Travelers have the choice to exit from either the North Gate or take a shortcut from the East Gate, recouping at the van before heading to lunch
~11am: Travelers will then feast on a traditional lunch of dumplings and kung pao chicken (we can also arrange for a vegetarian lunch in advance) before making our way to the Great Wall in the afternoon.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Mutianyu Great Wall, Mutianyu Road, Huairou District, Beijing China
~2-3.30pm: Just 70km north of Beijing lies one of the most popular portions of the Great Wall, Mutianyu. Best known for its incredible scenery and stunning vantage point of the wall as it winds over Beijing's vast hills like an endless dragon, by the afternoon the crowds have already started to die down, giving you an unencumbered glimpse from the 600-800meter perch.
Travelers can ride a cable car to the top as well as take a toboggan or chair lift back down to the bottom.
~5pm: Travelers arrive back to their hotel.
Duration: 2 hours

Beautiful day at the Great Wall Mutianyu! Excellent visibility today. Our driver Martin took us to the VIP lot and took care of the tickets for entry, cable car up, and toboggan back down. He was waiting for us 3 hours later and got us a wonderful lunch. A later Beijing tour with our guide Linda (Ling Ling) was great. She was delightful, well spoken, informative, and very personable. I highly recommend this tour
