About this activity
After meeting your guide at your hotel lobby, your will first visit the Temple of heaven by taking the metro or bus (subject to your hotel location).

It is so much fun in the Temple of heaven in the morning as you can see many local retired folks doing morning exercises here. You can join any kinds of activities if you like. Meanwhile, you will get to know all the detailed stories and histories about this temple from your tour guide.

Then you will take a double-decker bus from the temple to the Tian'anmen Square (the World's largest public square). Walk through the Tian'anmen square towards to The Forbidden city (an UNESCO World Heritage Site). In fact, Beijing is dominated by this huge Imperial Palace from 1420 to 1912.

The common English name, "the Forbidden City", is a translation of the Chinese name Zijin Cheng. Zi means "Purple", refers to the North Star, was the realm of the Celestial Emperor and his family. As the residence of the terrestrial emperor, was its earthly counterpart. Jin, or "Forbidden", referred to the fact that no one could enter or leave the palace without the emperor's permission. Cheng means a city. Your guide will also introduce the history and interesting stories of each building here.

Exit the Forbidden city from the North Gate, then you will take a bus back to your hotel, or the place you wish to visit in the city.

After this tour, you will be able to travel around Beijing like a local by buses and metro, which is a very convenient and inexpensive way to explore the city. Guests are also encouraged to ask questions about touring other parts of the city, getting insider tips and visitor information along the way.

The time of the beginning of the tour can be changed upon your request.

Our tour with Alice was awesome and wonderful. She was very informative and helpful and wasn't rushing us. Just a few notes on this tour. Be prepared on walking for more than 15km for the whole tour under the sun during summer. Also be prepared to rush on top of buses with the locals

My tour included the Temple of Heaven, Tian An Men square and the Forbidden City. My guide Roy Li was very knowlegdeable, and had plenty of interesting facts to share about all the locations and about Beijing and China in general. Using public transport is the most convenient form of travelling and Beijing and allows you to catch a glimpse in every day life for its inhabitants. Roy also gave me advice on other attractions close to these sites and around the city, another trip is definitively needed!

Excellent!. The best way of experiencing the day to day of the locals. We enjoyed using the bus and the subway. The places visited were very beautiful and with a lot of history. Very professional guide. Very good English.

Good fun and a good guide helped us see the main sights of Beijing. Once we had used the metro once we saw how easy it was to get around by ourselves.
