About this activity
In the morning around 8am, your tour guide will meet you at your hotel lobby in Beijing.
Your tour will begin at Tian'anmen Square and you can see its surroundings, the most emblematic building. Tian'anmen Square is the top 10 biggest city center square in the world. You will see The Great Hall of People, and The National Museum (used to be named Chinese history and revolution museum), the Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum and The Monument to the People's Heroes.
Then, walk though the Tian'anmen Gate and head to the Forbidden city, in this massive Palace you will visit the most important buildings:
The Meridian Gate
The Hall of Supreme Harmony
The Hall of Central Harmony
The Hall of Preserving Harmony
The Hall of Heavenly Purity
The Hall of Earthly Tranquility
The Hall of Union
The Imperial Garden
You will exit from the North gate then hop on your minivan, head to the Summer Palace. On the way, your tour guide will take you to a local restaurant and have a delicious, authentic Chinese lunch.
Sample dishes you will have:
Gongbao Chicken
Chinese spring rolls
Muxu pork
Sweet and Sour pork/chicken
Egg or soy sauce fried rice
Vegetable dishes
In the afternoon, continue to visit the Summer Palace. During the 40 minutes drive, your English speaking guide will give you another detailed explanation of the imperial palace.
In this beautiful garden, you will visit the most important buildings and gardens:
The Hall of Benevolence and Longevity
The Kunming Lake
The Longevity Mountain
The Hall of Jade Ripples
The Hall of Happiness and Longevity
The Long Corridor
The Marble Boat
Followed by your informative English speaking guide,you will spend 1.5-2 hours inside the Summer Palace.
After a great day of essential Beijing, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Beijing.

Our small group tour ended up being a private tour because it was the weekend. Alice our tour guide was absolutely wonderful, she showed us all we wanted to see and took time to take great pictures of us. Tiananmen Square was pretty cool and the forbidden city kept going and going. Alice kept us out of the crowds and showed us the nooks and crannies. Also we had a great lunch, the best here so far and we loved the summer palace! ,
We had a great time! KoKo was a very knowledgeable tour guide and she has happy to answer all of our questions. Be warned though, it was very hot, humid and crowded. There are drinks available for sell, at very low prices, in the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, but you may want to carry some with you. And dress appropriately! I can't remember the last time I sweat so much. Our tour was in early July.
