Located 85 kilometers north of Beirut, Tripoli is Lebanon's second most populous city. Arrived at destination, passengers descend at the foot of the Clock Tower, built in white brick at the time of the Ottoman Empire.

The citadel, or the 'Château Saint-Gilles' overlooking the city is the most emblematic site of Tripoli.

The Taynal Mosque was built in 1336 in the middle of orange gardens. It covers the remains of a Carmelite church that built it on the ruins of a Roman temple dedicated to Zeus. The rooms surrounding the marble patio were used for the council of Magistrates of Tripoli at the time of the Mamluks.

The hammams of the city were built in the 14th century while the population was more frequent Turkish baths.

The market for fabric and crafted copper, the famous pastry shops and the family soap factories attract visitors. The artisans and sellers of charms share the arches of the souk.

The port of Tripoli, or El Mina is the main economic asset of the city.

Nabu Museum located in the city of Batroon offers Bronze and Iron Age artifacts representing Roman, Greek, Byzantine, Phoenician and Mesopotamian, and contemporary Lebanese cultures, in addition to rare manuscripts and ethnographic material.

The Phoenicians used this wall as protection against sea storms and invaders, while during Roman times it again functioned as a quarry.

Standing in the middle of an orchard and visible from all sides; it's an oblong structure of sandstone. Its peculiarities reflecting the remnants of a Crusader church built by the Carmelite Fathers at the time of the Crusades, while the Crusaders themselves had built the church on a Roman temple dedicated to Zeus, locally called Baal. Several medieval travellers, including the 14th-century traveller Ibn Battuta, have written eloquently about it.

he Mansouri Great Mosque is a mosque in Tripoli, Lebanon, also known simply as The Great Mosque of Tripoli. It was built in the Mamluk period, from 1294 to 1314, around the remains of a Crusader Church of St. Mary.[1][2][3] In any case, the two Christian elements in no way detract from the traditional Muslim nature of this great royal mosque, the first building erected in Mamluk Tripoli.

El-Mina or El Mina is a coastal independent town in Tripoli, Northern Lebanon. El-Mina occupies the location of the old Phoenician city of Tripoli. It acts as the harbour city for modern neighbouring Tripoli, Lebanon's second-largest city, situated 5 km to the east.
