Small Group Tours - Wine Tasting tour - Day trip from Beirut
Depart from Beirut in an air-conditioned vehicle, spend a Wine Tour in Beqaa Valley and Sample delicious local wines at the Chateau Ksara, Chateau St Thomas, Kefraya Winery...
When one thinks of wine producing regions, Lebanon is at the top of the list.
These wineries are located where a natural water table and clay-calcareous soils, respectively, offer appropriate climates for wine production.
Wine has been made in Lebanon for at least 5,000 years since the Phoenicians domesticated grapes. Lebanon was, of course, part of the biblical land of Canaan. Jesus changed water into wine there at the wedding of Cana. Thus Lebanon is among the oldest sites of wine production in the world. It has annual production of about 600, 000 cases of wine.
Lebanese wine has created a name for itself in international markets and is considered a quality ambassador to the country abroad.
The largest winery in Lebanon is Chateau Ksara. The wine there is one-of-a-kind because of the caverns and hallways that have been engraved in the rocks since the Roman period.
Ksara’s red, white, rosé, sweet fortified wines and arak are famous locally and internationally, with over 2.5 million bottles produced per year. Ksara’s wine has been described as a “rare balance of dry fruitiness, of delicacy and coarseness, and of freshness and vigor.” A tour of the caverns, with an introductory video and wine-tasting are open to the public. There’s also a casual restaurant where you can enjoy cheese and cold cuts with your wine, as well as a salad bar selection.
