The area has a long tradition with distillation. According to one story, as far back as 1276, an early settler called Sir Robert Savage of Ard’s before defeating the Irish in battle, fortified his troops with "a mighty drop of acqua vitae" In 1608, a licence was granted to Sir Thomas Phillips Irish adventurer by King James I to distil whiskey.

We arrive at one of the most dramatic castle ruins in the world. Prepare to be amazed at the way this old castle hangs over the edge of the cliffs.

You will visit the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland. Stop at the Giant’s Causeway to enjoy around 1 hour exploring the 40,000 interlocking hexagonal stone columns on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Hexagonal basalt columns formed during a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago.

Ruins of the original gate lodge are all that remain of this castle, which was destroyed by General Robert Munro in 1642.

The Rope bridge at Carrick-A-Rede is situated near the charming village of Ballintoy. Those that wish to cross the bridge can do so for a discounted price, and the charges for crossing the bridge go to support the National trust which is the charity that is responsible for the upkeep of the bridge.

We make our way back to Belfast along the Antrim Coast Road where we can see fine views of Rathlin Island. The views along this coastline are spectacular, no wonder it is one of the most visited destinations in Europe!
