The Obed swamp has been famous since the mid 19th century when the stories of a 'bird heaven' started. This vast swamp-forest complex, once a famous ornithological reserve today is a special nature reserve. Located along the Sava river this swamp actually represents a remnant of former meander of the Sava and it's old riverbed. Obed swamp with its exceptional natural values has been included in the Ramsar Convention list in 1977. and in the 1989. it was declared the international Important Bird Area (IBA). Boat sailing in the reserve.
