Name Felix Romuliana was given to the palace by Emperor Galerius Maximianus in honour of his mother Romula. The name, which means Happy Romula’s, pretended to bring happiness to the place, and indeed the residence remembers periods of great expansion and glory, about which evidence preserved architecture and mosaics. But also it lived through the times of horrible devastation, and finally the town stopped existing. Anyway, even now, when it is not alive, this historical place is attractive for tourists due to its remarkable state and beauty.

From Gamzigrad we continue to Bor – a mining town with one of the biggest copper mines in Europe. Here our interest is the biggest man-made hollow in Europe. This open pit mine, as well as the whole scene of the area, is well seen from a special terrace for visitors. Moreover, some other places within easy reach from Bor are curious and more or less famous, as well.

After the main part of our tour done, we are ready to have a bite in a nearby tavern or in a town on the return road. By the way, to vary the landscape outside the window, we can change the rout back to Belgrade and go on the road over mountains Crni Vrh and Homolje with fantastic scenes you haven’t seen yet.
