We had the best time on this tour! They picked us up right on time from our Air bnb. We happened to be the only 2 on the tour which was fantastic. Our guide was very informative, allowed us to take our time at the ruins and explore as much as we wanted. We were also able to do some shopping at the stands that locals have at the site after we had seen everything. The zipline was the best zipline experience we have ever had! 7 cables sending us over the Belize river several times. Our guides were super at spotting wildlife for us to see. They also were kind enough to take lots of pictures of us both! After the zipline they had snacks ready (chips, salsa, and fruit). Lots of mosquitos at both the zipline and the temples so bring bug spray! Definitely would recommend this tour, you get a lot for the price!
We were picked up at our hotel and surprisingly enough, the tour was not an all day thing. Our tour guide Onofre was very informative. Would totally recommend this tour as you do return back to Belize City early and has the rest of the say ahead of you.
This tour was awesome! Our guide was nice and very knowledgeable. The ruins were amazing and ziplining was also fun. We stopped at a supermarket to buy local beer and the snacks offered were great! I recommend this trip to anyone visiting Belize.
Ok so there were'nt a lot of reviews on this prior to booking but we took a chance and this was by far the best tour that we've done, while on a cruise. Vel (guide) and Wilbur (driver) did a phenomenal job. Vel is very knowledgeable about Mayan and Belizean culture(s). This tour really exceeded all of our expectations. When we arrived at the terminal, Vel was waiting for our group with our name on a sign, he walked us to the BELIZE sign and took a group pic of the 6 of us. Our shuttle was an air conditioned van for maybe 15-20 passengers but we were only ones on tour. We drove to the ruins first, ride was about 1 hr. Vel kept us entertained and answered all of our questions about everything: food, geographical and economical info, agriculture and even taught us some math and science! We had plenty of time to explore the ruins and then off to zipline. That ride was about another 45 mins. The zipline was awesome; however I would say if you haven't done ziplining before you may want to pump the brakes. The platforms were very high and the cables cross the river 4 times. We really didn't know anything going into it so you've been warned! This course is not for some one who doesn't like climbing or narrow ladders. Luckily, we had our skeptics sit that out but the rest of us had a blast. The zip guides did a great job and they even got us some great pictures and videos on our cell phones. When we finished, Vel had water bottles, chips and salsa and fresh papaya and pineapple waiting for us in the shade. We were able to get pictures of crocodiles and more group photos at the end. My husband wanted some local food, so on the return Vel stopped at a local spot and we ordered some food. We were able to get back to the port with an hour to spare for shopping before the last tender. I would recommend this tour to anyone who doesn't want to just shop at the port, looking for something to remember from their trip and doesn't want to pay the prices for ship excursions.
Tour guide was wonderful! A great, fun, efficient tour. Ruins were very enjoyable and zip line was excellent!!
When doing an excursion activity from Belize City, it's always better to get to your destination before the cruise ship passengers arrive in the droves and crowd things up. Belize infrastructure and tourist personnel are not really able to cope with a large number of guests trying to gain admission all at the same time. You will have to wait up to half an hour to get in if you arrive with all the cruise ship passengers. Altun Ha is a good Mayan site to visit. If the Belizean government had the money and will to excavate the remaining 80 % of Altun Ha that remains inaccessible to tourists now, then Altun Ha would be an enormous Mayan city tourist site. However, that would change the "ecotourism" phiilosophy that you see today throughout Belize. Belize currently has dirt roads with lots of potholes prone to flooding and nature at its raw best form, not so much paved roads with lots of tourist trappings.
Our guide, Ruperto Lopez was AWESOME! He shared the history and other interesting information with us. Just a GREAT guy,Sharon Buss
