Stop At: Altun Ha, Rockstone Pond Village Belize

An hour northward out of Belize City, your disembarkation point, along quaint country roads, secondary rainforest, Creole villages and isolated farms, rises the majestic beauty of the Maya ceremonial center called Altun Ha (rock stone water). Royal priests ruled this site for many centuries, and traded with other Mayan centers in Meso America. Some 50 years ago, Dr. David Pendergast of the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada, along with his excavation team, discovered a tomb of a priest in the Temple of the Masonry Altars, and in it, a nine and three quarter pound jade carving of the Sun God, Kinich Ahau – a world famous event! Climb prepared stone steps to the stars! Surround yourself with the aura of these ancient stargazers living in the rainforests of Belize

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Nohoch Che'en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve, Frank Eddie Village, Cayo, Belize, Belize City Belize

An hour’s easy drive west from Belize City brings us to the Sibun Caves Branch cave tubing site – with modern bathrooms, secure parking, excellent jungle restaurant, and handicraft shops. After changing, grab your tube, life vest and caving light, and walk a leisurely jungle trail through two dry cave systems and under beautiful primary broadleaf rainforest to the entrance of the cave system and the most popular tour in Belize – cool and comfortable floating through gorgeous stalactite and stalagmite filled caverns where the ancient Maya people once practiced the important rite of traveling through the underworld, ruled by the nine dark lords of their cosmological religion. Your guides will take you safely through the system, and then, at the end of the caves, enjoy a beautiful outdoor float under the canopy of the rainforest, with some sunshine coming down through the canopy. At the end (this is actually a circuit – you float back to where you started hiking!), enjoy a fabulous local lunch, and then back to your original start point.

Duration: 3 hours

I booked this tour about three months prior to visiting Belize through Viator. As specified on the voucher, it said the start time was 7am with pickup 30-60 minutes prior. 7am came and I hadn't heard anything from the tour. I tried calling their local number and no one answered. I called Viator directly and they couldn't find them either. After spending 30 minutes on the phone, I just knew I had a wasted trip to Belize as I didn't have any further information on the tour. After working with the hotel to possibly arrange me a private tour and going to the ATM did someone contact me It appears there was poor communication as my guide wasn't aware of the tour until that morning. My guide was amazing!!! I would recommend Adrian to anyone as he really knows his history and Belize's environment. He also makes it entertaining along the way with plenty of laughs. Despite the mishaps in the beginning, the trip was well worth it! Request Adrian if you can!
