About this activity
It doesn’t matter if you and your family and friends visiting on a cruise ship or staying a few nights in Belize City or even staying on one of the bigger islands of Ambergris Caye or caye Caulker, you will just need to come over to Belize City via water ferry or fly over, either way will go pick you up. As we leave we do a city tour, taking you thru the old capital city, we will point out all the interesting spots as we drive thru a few streets. A hurricane Called hurricane Hattie struck Belize in 1961 causing the relocation of the capital to move west of the city some 50 miles inland. Some of the points of interest includes the light house, the Belize sign, the wealthy portions of the city called the Kings Park zone, there most of the aflorence, doctors, lawyers, politicians etc resides, the school educational district, the hospital, the central Bank of Belize, located in once “Her Majesty Prison “ compound. Also the prime minister’s home(local White House). making our way on the northern highway, we drive thru seeing mangroves on both sides of the road. There are three types of mangroves, the Red, Black and White mangroves. In these natural habitat lives the crocodiles, and a vast amount of species of birds , reptiles, and amphibians. At times it’s possible to spot a few of these creatures. We also point out some homes that started to sink because of poor foundations and had to be forced out of their homes. It had to be abandoned and relocated. A very interesting point too is crossing our very own Golden Gate Bridge locally called the Haulova bridge. This bridge crosses over the old Belize River that was used in the past by the English loggers to transport the mahogany logs down from the interior of the country to the coast. We then enter Ladyville and in this neighborhood is located the international airport, brury for the local beer of Belize called “Belikin beer”. Ladyville is a fast growing community both industrially and in population. Along the drive heading to Altun ha which translates into English “Rock Stone Water “ will be the highlight of our visit. Hearing all the interesting facts of the ancient city will take you back in the past of how these people lived and acted. We are allowed to climb all the temples and the site encompasses 2.5 square kilometers. The earliest settlement dates back to 250 B.C. This was a healthy and rich ceremonial and trading center. Population estimated was about 8 to 10,000 inhabitants. We will take you back in the past, so please let us show you to the maya world of Altun ha. After our tour is concluded you can take a few minutes to walk around on your own. The visitor center is also available for us to visit. There are gifts shops there too, you can window shop if you like. We then head back to Belize City and will drop off the same place we originally meet. We provide transportation too and from Belize City or the cruise port, drinking water and your well and friendly and knowledgeable tour guide.

Dennis met us at the port, he held a sign with the name of our excursion so that made it really easy to find him. He was very friendly and informative, he told us about the city as were making our way to the Altun Ha ruins. After our excursion he took us to a good hamburger place to eat and drove us back to the port. If you haven't seen this ruin and you are interested in the history of it I would highly recommend using Dennis for this tour.
