Beginner's Fly Fishing Tour

Meet your guides outside your Baker City hotel at 8AM (9AM for half day tours) for complimentary pick-up. Get there 10 minutes early to grab a window seat and pour yourself a cup of local joe. On the 45 minute drive to Anthony Lakes, you’ll drive through the valley that enticed so many settlers from the Oregon Trail and pass 7 generation farms.
A quick stop at the base of the ski-hill teaches you the basics of casting and covers general safety protocol for float tube fishing. Listen carefully, your next stop is the open water! The first fishing destination of the day (the only stop on the half day tour) is a picturesque lake, so quiet you can hear every fish jump. With the help of your guide, don fishing waders, grab your pole, and claim your craft. Once in the water, you’ll have a chance for a final tutorial before you’re set free to enjoy the lake and all its bounty. Your guide will circulate to answer any questions and provide helpful hints to those who want them.
The half day tour ends there but for those who want to try their hand at bigger fish and a cast iron cook out, the fun is far from over. On the full-day tour, you visit an additional high-mountain lake stocked with monster rainbow trout. Finish off your adventure by learning how to prepare and cook a fish outdoors. Feast on your catch as well as an assortment of other regionally sourced flavors, and wash it all down with a local craft brew or bottle of wine.
