Day 1: Talakad the lost temple town

Stop At: Talakad Panchalinga Temples, Near Chennakeshava Temple, Talakad India
At 630 AM we start towards Talakadu, located 130 KMs from Bangalore. The ride will take 3.5 hours.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Vaidyanatheswara Temple, Talakadu, Talakad 571122 India
Talakadu used to be a flourishing town with more than 30 temples during ancient times. The legendary Queen’s curse buried the entire town with sand dunes. We will visit Vaidyanatheswara temple, one of the 5 temples excavated from the sands. Over the next 2 hours we will explore this granite structure built in the 14th century by Chola Kings and dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Stop At: Keerthi Narayana Temple, Chamarajanagar District, Talakad India
We will explore this temple excavated from the sand
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Pathaleshwara Temple, Talakadu, Talakad India
We will also visit Pataleshwara Shiva temple where the Lingam is supposed to change colors through the day from red, black and white!
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Mallikarjuna Temple, Mudukothore, Near Talakadu, Talakad India
We will wind up our Talakad visit here
Duration: 15 minutes

Day 2: Mysore

Stop At: Mysore Palace (Amba Vilas), Sayyaji Rao Rd Agrahara, Chamrajpura, Mysuru (Mysore) 570001 India
We visit the grand Mysore Palace and spend the next couple of hours in this wonder built in Indo-Saracenic style with a blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture. The Palace is a three-storied stone structure, with marble domes and a 145 ft five-storied tower. The guided tour will take you through the Public Hall, Private Hall, Dolls Pavilion and the Royal Wedding Hall.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Chennakesava Temple, Somanathapura, Somanathapura, Mysuru, Somnathpur India
Our next destination is Somnathpur which has the magnificent Chennakesava temple. This temple was built in 1268 by Somanatha, a general of King Narasimha III. We will explore the three shrines and three wonderfully carved peaks with a common Mandapa.

The next couple of hours will be spent appreciating the 16 different ceilings, each depicting a different stage of a blooming banana flower, the central wall space adorned with images of deities with jewellery, bangles, crowns and anklets.

Drop back to Bangalore after a ride of 3 hours.
