Your first destination is the Al Ain Museum which will give you the best introduction to the city. With three main sections - archaeology, ethnography and gifts, the museum lets you explore various aspects of UAE life, including Bedouin jewellery and traditional musical instrument collections.
Renowned for its copious greenery and agricultural innovations, Al Ain (literally "The Spring") is blessed with substantial underground water resources; it is also an extremely fertile region, rich in greenery and home to numerous farms, public parks and important archeological sites. Next on the itinerary is visit to the award-winning Al Jahili Fort to view the permanent exhibition dedicated to the intrepid British explorer, Wilfred Thesiger, who crossed The Empty Quarter Rub al-Khali ( the largest contiguous sand desert in the world) twice in the 1940s. Then, head to Jebel Hafeet, a tall mountain straddling the border with Oman. Drive up to the summit to enjoy views of the city below from a height of 1,249 m (4,098 ft) above sea level. Before the final stop at the Al Ain Mall for some souvenir shopping, stop at the hot water springs and Al Ain Zoo (entrance ticket not included).
