Stop At: Jal Mahal, Amer Road, Jaipur 302002 India

Believed to be one of the few planned cities in India from the past few centuries, Jaipur and its many lanes and by-lanes offer a peek into the rich heritage of the desert state. Exploring the Pink City from within an air-conditioned car wouldn’t be the same as when you do it the way the locals do - on a rickshaw, a small vehicle which looks like a hybrid between a bicycle and a cart. With the varied architectural magnificence that Jaipur has, driving in a car through its many lanes would do no justice to it while walking would be too hectic. But these three wheeled vehicles are sorcerers of the city’s lanes and narrow roads, and might just be one of the exciting things to do in Jaipur. You will be accompanied by a proficient English speaking guide who is also well-versed in the local culture. The tour starts at 8:00 am at the spectacularly beautiful, Hawa Mahal or the wind palace - named for the 953 small windows which has become an iconic structure in the city. Hop onto the rickshaw and ride towards yet another historic Palace, Jal Mahal or the water palace, a picturesque palace which appears to float on Man Sagar Lake, yet another iconic sight. The rickshaw will follow the trail that snakes through the Aravali hills towards the former capital of an erstwhile kingdom, Amber. From here, you can either walk, opt for a jeep or an elephant ride to get to the Amber fort. This will be followed by a heritage walking tour of the historic city, passing by temples of unique architectural backgrounds, stepwells and even lakes. An experience which will take you back in time to when royalty ruled the desert state. Following a visit to the city palace, you will be taken to the famed Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomer’s tool to calculate the time of the day back when wristwatches and wall clocks were non-existent. The enjoyable tour ends with your rickshaw driver dropping you to any point of convenience for you.Riding a rickshaw is one of the most common and modest modes of transport in the city. Specially curated to offer an experience of Jaipur from the local’s perspective, and also keeping the convenience of the tourist in mind, this tour will show you a side of the city you might have missed before. From the picturesque lanes and by-lanes to the many palaces and the historic Amber Fort, it takes you to the many attractions in Jaipur, should you choose to explore it like a commoner - on the rickshaws.
