About this activity
Make sure your taste buds are ready to be delighted by one of Bengaluru’s best Thindi Bindi, or Food Streets, meeting your local guide at Maiyas Restaurant at 6pm for three hours exploring South Indian food and culture, including vegetarian dinner along the way. You’ll first head toward Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Bengaluru. As you begin to smell the aroma of frying and fragrant spices and see streets lined with food carts and restaurants, you’ll know you have arrived. Your only dilemma will be to decide which of the South Indian favorites of idlis, dosas, or vadas, you want to try. Or, you can eat them all. Your guide will explain how some of the dishes are prepared and point out seasonal specialties. Save room for local delicacies like akki roti, paddu, and holige (a sweet made with jaggery, a concentrated sugar). Your guide will point out the VB Bakery, known for its cream puffs, cakes, and biscuits, where you may want to return for dessert. Or, you can end your meal like the locals do, with hot almond milk. Your tour will end at Maiyas Restaurant unless you’ve upgraded to an included pickup and drop-off.
