730AM- Hotel pick up
We will head to Ramnagara, a small town located 50 KMs from Bangalore. Ramnagar is famous for its silk industry and receives 50 tons of silk cocoons every day making it Asia’s largest silk cocoon market.
We will visit a village and meet a few farmers who rear silk worms and harvest silk cocoons for a living.
We will next visit a Government Silk Cocoon Market and witness an auction.
1230PM- Mysore Silk factory visit
Mysore beckons, and we visit a Silk factory which was started by the Maharaja. It’s a fascinating experience to see the process of Silk production from reeling of cocoon to the weaving of silk fabric.
Lunch in a Palace!
Lunch is organized in a Palace which was built by the Maharajah of Mysore to welcome the Vice Roy of India!
Silk Sarees are a cultural icon in South India. Ranging in length from 6-9 yards, these Sarees are worn by women during auspicious occasions like a wedding or a birthday. We will visit a showroom which has an amazing collection of Silk Sarees which is where the shopping happens prior to festivals and special occasions! This mesmerizing site of a riot of colours and textures is where our tour comes to an end.
