The Sights and Sounds of Jodhpur

The assembly point for the walking tour is Chandapole and it will start at 09:00 am. The duration of the tour will be 2 ½ hours. You will be guided by a team of experts, who are known city explorers of Jodhpur.

In the heart of the city, you will visit the historic Krishna temple, the entrance of which has often been described as an architectural marvel. Into the temple precincts, you will meet the priest and his family and learn about the legends that surround the temple. From the legendary past, you will step into the bustling present of the alleyways of Jodhpur, which is ever overflowing with merchandise. You will also get to interact with the locals, learn about their livelihood, the traditions that have been passed down through generations.

As you tour further into the rural side you will discover ancient stepwells which played a vital role in the religious and social life of the people in the neighbourhood. The aridness of this desert region never stalled the spirit or rigour of its people when you find the most delectable and coveted desserts trace their origin here. In the bustling streets, you can binge on some of the tasty treats like the savoury kachori, sugar-syrup soaked Gulab Jamun etc. With the melting goodness of the sweets, you will be all set for getting into the pulse of Jodhpur buzz, as you visit the community kitchen, the Grain Mandi. The last lap of the walking tour will be the famous clock tower, where you can click a few pictures and save one for the mantelpiece as well.
