Le Storie di Botticelli
12.10.2018 – 28.01.2019
Bergamo, Accademia Carrara
Two paintings on wood of significant size, made by Sandro Botticelli (Florence 1445-1510), one of the best-loved artists of the Renaissance, become exceptional companion pieces, forming an inextricable bond between the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
The twists and turns of history have brought to Bergamo and Boston The Story of Virginia (1500-10) and The Story of Lucretia, by the Florentine painter universally celebrated for his interpretation of his age, which spanned from the height of splendour of the Medici court through to its crisis and decline.
Museo Accademia Carrara – Piazza Carrara, 82 Bergamo
From 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. | ticket office closes at 4.45 p.m. | Closed Tuesdays
