Pass By: Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, Bergen, Hordaland, Western Norway

Bryggen has a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List with the old Hanseatic wharf and its buildings from the Middle Ages in Norway. Bryggen was rebuilt on the foundations, after the great fire of 1702 which means that it is unchanged since the 12th century. In 1360, the German Hanseatic League set up its import and export offices at Bryggen, dominating trade for almost 400 years.

Pass By: Fish Market, Bergen, Hordaland, Western Norway

The Fish Market has since the 1200s been one of the most important places for trade between fishermen, farmers and the inhabitants of the city. First was located next to Bryggen when the Hanseatic league came to Bergen in the 1300s, until the 1500s. In 1556, it was moved to the inner part of Vågen Bay. In 2012 the indoor Fish Marked - Mathallen opened.

Pass By: Rosenkrantz Tower - Bymuseet i Bergen, Bergen, Hordaland, Western Norway

Rosenkrantz Tower was built in the 1560s by the governor of Bergen Castle (Bergenhus), Erik Rosenkrantz. Parts of the tower are from the 1270s, but it has been extended on several occasions for the purpose of fortification and as a demonstration of power. It was the residence of King Eirik Magnusson, who was the last king to hold court in Bergen, until he died in 1299.

Håkon’s Hall – Håkonshallen was built between 1247 and 1261 by the King Håkon Håkonsson. It is 750 years old and was built as a royal residence and banqueting hall. When his son Magnus Håkonsson Lagabøte married the Danish princess Ingeborg in 1261, 2000 guests were invited. As a national cultural monument, it is still used both for royal dinners and other official occasions.

Bergenhus fortress - Bergenhus festning (Holmen in the medieval times) is located at the entrance of Bergen harbour, the castle is one of the oldest and best preserved stone fortifications in Norway. It contains buildings dating as far back as the 1240s. Excavations have revealed foundations of buildings believed to date back to before 1100, which might have been erected by King Olav Kyrre.

Nordnes is a peninsula and neighbourhood in the city centre of Bergen. It has several dense clusters of wooden houses and narrow alleys. Surrounded by Vågen, Byfjorden, and Puddefjorden. Here are: the Bergen Aquarium, the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research, Fredriksberg Fortress, Parish Church Nykirken, Nordnes Park, the Ballast Pier and Nordnes sjøbad outdoor swimming pool.

Pass By: Vidden Trail between Mt. Floyen and Mt. Ulriken, Bergen, Hordaland, Western Norway

Fløyen and Ulriken are part of the seven mountains surrounding the city of Bergen. To get to Mount Fløyen you can take the Fløibanen funicular. Ulriken is the highest of the Seven Mountains (643 mts asl) that surround Bergen. Ulriken has an cablecar, Ulriksbanen, that can bring people to the top.

Pass By: Norway Fisheries Museum

The Norwegian Fisheries Museum in authentic wharfside warehouses as old as Bryggen. Enjoy interactive exhibitions and about how Norwegian fishermen have live throughout the ages. In this area you can also find the Old Bergen Open-air Museum has approx. 50 wooden houses buildings from the 1700-1800s.

Eidsvåg is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen with 2,965 residents. The village area lies in the borough of Åsane in the northern part of the city. It is located north of Ytre Sandviken, northwest of Jordal, southwest of Ervik and south of Eidsvågen, an arm of Byfjorden (City Fjord). This residential area has Eidsvåg School, Eidsvåg Church, a marina, and the former Eidsvåg Fabrikker.
