Berlin is divided into fare zones A, B and C for which you will need an appropriate travel ticket to use public transport services (bus & rail, tram). Zone A comprises the inner city of Berlin up to and including the S-Bahn Ring. Zone B is located outside the S-Bahn Ring up to the city limits. Zone C is the area around Berlin, including the town of Potsdam, Sachsenhausen Memorial Site & Schönefeld Airport.
Please note it is not possible to extend your Berlin WelcomeCard AB by buying a ticket for fare zone C only.

Requesting the welcome card prior to the trip was a great time saver. We picked up the card at the airport and immediately had use of the public transportation. We took advantage of several discounts. The card paid for itself easily.

This card is well worth it. I bought the 6 day ABC pass. I haven't had to worry about transit money at all. Just hop on. If you don't think they check to see if you have tickets they do. I have been asked twice in my travels to show proof of payment. The discounts to places also is a bonus.
