Private Berlin Custom Half-Day Tour with Private Driver and Guide
4 h
About this activity
Your day will start when your guide/driver picks you at your hotel. Recommended start time is 10am, though you may choose any time that works best for you. On the way to Germany’s parliament building, the Reichstag, listen to your guide's overview of Berlin’s 800-year history. Learn about the city's humble beginnings and its development to the creative place it is today. Pass the gleaming Hauptbahnhof (train station) then see the Brandenburg Gate. From there, head to Berlin’s most famous Holocaust memorial, the poignant "Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe."
Stand above the remains of Hitler’s bunker, where the dictator committed suicide in 1945. Get a taste of what life is like in modern Berlin at Potsdamer Platz, where skyscrapers soar above the plaza. Follow the path of the Berlin Wall, past the former headquarters of the Nazi SS and the Gestapo and through the former border of East and West Berlin at Checkpoint Charlie. Re-enter what was once East Berlin and see the beautiful city square, the Gendarmenmark, while you learn about Berlin’s 17th-century struggle through the 30 Years’ War, and how the city was brought back to life afterwards.
Visit other highlights including Unter den Linden, Bebelplatz, Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral, and the famous "Karl Marx Allee," built in the early days of the East German regime as a monument to Stalin. See the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall and the East Side Gallery, covered from top to bottom and end to end in paintings that celebrate the peaceful revolution of 1989. The half-day tour concludes with you being driven back to your hotel or another location of your choice.

We saw everything we wanted to see in Berlin and our guide, Rob, was very kind and informative! He picked us up from our hotel on time and we hit all the highlights of Berlin within four hours, even working in a bathroom pit stop and souvenir shopping.
Linsey was a delightful tour guide. My college-student daughter especially connected with her. We learned so much about Berlin while thoroughly enjoying her company.
Charlotte our tour guide was beyond incredible! We truly enjoyed our tour guide with her!
We spent a wonderful 4 hours touring the major sites of Berlin with our Guide Nathan. It was one of the very best tours we have ever been on, made all the more special by Nathan sharing the experiences of his grandparents during World War II and his own insight into the memorial of the murdered Jewish people. His background, education and English language skill and familiarity with German culture and custom made for a perfect experience for our group of three American travelers.
My daughter and I had a 4.5 hour lay- over on our return flight to JFK. Since she had never been to Berlin I contacted Viator to arrange for a private guide and driver with a pick up and return to Tegel airport. We couldn't have been more pleased. Our guide, Ryan, was spectacular. He was knowledgeable and organized and our driver Olly was prompt and drove safely. It helped that it was Sunday morning so we avoided mid week traffic. We were able to view all the major sites in 2.5 hours and returned to the airport with plenty of time to check in and board. Thank you again for a most enjoyable morning!
