About this activity
Your hosts will greet you in front of your cruise ship as soon as it docks and show you to a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. You will share the bus with other passengers from your cruise ship. After a 2-hour relaxing, comfortable journey through the picturesque flatlands of East Germany, you will arrive at a rest-stop just outside of Berlin. Here there will be a private comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with a professional English speaking driver-guide waiting for you. The driver-guide will first take you to visit the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial, then bring you to Berlin and after an altogether 7-hour private tour you will jump back onto our shared bus transportation and travel back to the port.

Your private tour can be custom tailored to your exact specifications. You can make all the decisions what to visit, where to stop and where to spend your time.

Once you arrive at Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial your driver-guide will give you a brief overview of the history and horrifying events which transpired there. After approximately a 1.5-hour visit you will continue to the German capital.

Upon your arrival in Berlin you will be able to buy a quick lunch and have a 30-minute break. After lunch the tour continues in the government quarter where you will see the German parliament, the Reichstag the Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, the Tiergarten, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews and Hitler's bunker. From there you will head south through Potsdamer Platz to see the remains of the Berlin Wall as well as the former Headquarters of the SS and Gestapo - Topography of Terror, and Checkpoint Charlie. After a photo stop you will head up Friedrichstrasse to the classic heart of the German capital which includes Gendarmenmarkt, Bebel Platz, the book burning square, Unter den Linden, Humboldt University, the Neue Wache, former Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Museum Island and the former Royal Palace of Berlin which is currently being rebuilt.

Time permitting the guide may also have time to show you a few sites in the former West Berlin, including the KaDeWe shopping center, Kurfürstendamm, the bombed out Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church as well as the Bellevue and Charlottenburg Palaces.

At the end of your Berlin tour, say goodbye to your driver-guide, board the shared bus, and be whisked off in comfort back to your cruise ship.
