This tour was supposed to be in Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte, but for staffing problems, it was changed the day before the tour to another area of town, Kreuzberg. There is a big ethnic influence here, especially Turkish. Personally I felt this was more interesting anyway. The tour itself was fine. Interesting foods, from no waste dumplings (everything recycled and no waste in the production) to one of finest cheesecakes in the world. The tour was more walk and bites than separate sit downs as some food tours. However we did end up at a informal sit down where the guide served up generous samples. The tour included historical information and a visit to the East Side Gallery. All in all, a very good tour.
Loved this tour! Our tour guide Dov was super friendly and knowledgeable and took us to several locations that we would not have otherwise found. The food portions were large, and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this tour and definitely worth the money.
We had an amazing time with Dov! Delicious AND educational. Our group was very small, only 3 people, which was perfect! We all spoke English so it was easy for us to chat and get along. Dov ended up spending 7 hours an extra free hour! with us because we got caught in a cafe due to rain. He easily changed our direction of the tour to involve more public transport while the rain went on and then we doubled back to our original route perfectly. We saw a beautiful area of the city as well as the parts that had a more sordid history with the Berlin Wall. Dov was knowledgable and had a great sense of the history as well as the current mindset of contemporary Berlin. And OH the food! Every single place he took us was wonderful, plus he had a personal relationship with many of the staff/owners of the restaurants. He told us about the different types of cuisines and how they came to be such a huge presence in Berlin. We definitely sampled cuisine from around the world. He took us to places I never would have found on my own/would have even walked into had I seen it. The whole tour really blew me away. It was enough food that we really got a taste and was satiated, but there was enough walking so I didn't fee stuffed throughout the day. But definitely don't eat breakfast before you go! I can't recommend this tour enough! It's a new company but you MUST give it a shot!
