About this activity
Get set to be taken on stroll through the city’s colourful history and unique modern culture. We start our vibrant Berlin tour in the very heart of Berlin's new government quarter.

Meet your local guide in front of the Reichstag (ancient Prussian Parliament) at the Big German Flag in front of the main entrance and hear the amazing story of this world-renowned building. You will get up close and personal to some of the original sites of the apocalyptic Battle of Berlin in 1945, which put an end to the horrors of Nazi Germany.

Of course times have changed greatly in Germany, and Berlin is no exception. While strolling the streets of this city, we take you on a journey as we explore the political changes that have occurred over the decades, and gain some further insight into modern Berlin culture. Our guides have their own pictures, original documents, as well as old and new maps, which make this Berlin walking tour experience all the more memorable, and makes our stunning city’s past come alive!

On our ultimate Berlin travel experience, you learn more about the countless historical events, modern places and landmarks that have made Berlin what it is today. Brandenburg Gate and the beautiful Pariser Platz are a couple of the famous places we take in on our adventure. We walk through the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe, a strong emotional expression of Germany dealing with the holocaust and the troubled aspects of its past. Learn more about one of history’s most notorious tyrants, Adolf Hitler, when we localise the almost forgotten site of his bunker, where he hid out during the final battle of World War II. Step back in time as we pass by former Nazi Ministries, the ‘Topography of Terror’, and Checkpoint Charlie. Hear stories of Cold War, GDR fugitives and day-to-day life in divided Germany, including a stop at ‘The Wall’. We visit the site, where young Peter Fechter was murdered by border guards in 1962.

Next we’ll take a stroll along one of the city’s most well-known grand boulevards, Friedrichstraße, where some of the city’s top shops can be found. Your tour will end at what is widely regarded as the most beautiful place in Berlin: Gendarmenmarkt, site of three impressive buildings: The German and the French Cathedral and Schinkel's Konzerthaus (concert hall), which brings us back to the Prussian times. Here we will enjoy a delicious German snack lunch with a refreshing beer and relax after receiving a thorough introduction to the history of Germany.

Before you go, don’t forget to ask your expert local guide for more tips on what else to see, do and eat during your stay.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge. However, our half day walking tour which started at 10am was still not finished at 5pm when we decided to drop out as we were close to our hotel. Also, it was not possible to identify our guide at the start of the tour. We had an uncomfortable 15mins trying to identify them amongst all the other tours starting at the same time and place. I'd recommend at least a small sign to make that part easier.

This Tour guide was amazing, only 4 of us in group so he asked if we had time to go longer, we all said yes, so what should have been a 4 hr Tour went for 7 hrs. He couldn't have been better, very enthusiastic and we all stopped and had a great lunch, this guy really knows his stuff, Thank you!

This was a waste of money. The guide was the worst I have ever experienced. He was late about a half hour. He said he was covering for another guide who was sick. Then he spent the first hour in one spot where we met talking about obscure and inaane details. It felt like he wanted to impress us with his knowledge. We asked him to step inside for a second because the whole group- our group of four and another couple were freezing. He just ignored everyone's needs. Finally I just went into a coffee shop and everyone followed for a short time to warm up. We then asked to see other sights in the area as noted in our tour description and he continued on about irrelevant things not related to the tour. He also insulted capitalism knowing the whole group was American. My group of four left the tour half way through because we were not learning anything as noted in the tour description.
