Warnemuende Shore Excursion: Private Berlin Tour

1 day
Private
About this activity
When your cruise ship docks at Warnemuende Port, hop into a luxury car and sit back and relax on your chauffeur-driven ride to Berlin. After roughly 2.5 hours on the road, arrive in the city and meet your private guide – a local expert who’s ready to introduce you to sights and history of beautiful Berlin.

Admire Brandenburg Gate – an iconic symbol of Berlin – and pose for photos next to the Berlin Wall while hearing about the futile division of Germany following World War II. Amble past Berlin Cathedral to marvel at its medley of architectural styles, and then see the TV Tower -- the city’s most popular attraction.

Your guide will happily recommend the best restaurants and cafes in town, before leaving you to enjoy lunch (own expense). Meet back at the pre-arranged time, and continue sightseeing around town.

Given the city’s complex modern history, many of its sights hark back to the days of WWII, and its vibrant streets echo with reminders of its past. Scout out the most poignant WWII monuments, like the Holocaust Memorial and War Memorial, while hearing their history from your guide. Take a walk through Checkpoint Charlie – the only point where visitors could cross between east and west Germany during the country’s separation – and then see Hitler’s Bunker, as well as sites like the Nazi Air Ministry and Bebelplatz -- the scene of the Nazi book burning.

Finally, get a taste of the city’s cosmopolitan culture, with visits to Potsdamer Platz and Gendarmenmarkt – two of the city’s must-visit squares. If museums are more your thing, then head to one of the city’s leading museums, like Pergamon Museum (own expense). You are free to explore independently its staggering collection of artifacts – treasures of ancient civilization from around the world.

Bid a fond farewell to the city and your guide, and then relax as your driver transfers you back to Warnemuende Port.

From the driver (Andrei) pickup til the drop off everything was excellent. Our guide, Sam, was friendly and able to alter his tour to our needs

We really had a great time on this tour, even with some terrible luck with ship docking late and an acid spill that closed the autobahn. Our driver was great very little English, but pleasant and accomodating--we were in car with him forever and our tour guide, Rick, was fantastic. Even with all the delays and shortened visit, we saw the Berlin Wall, war history, Brandenburg gate, and other key sites. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting from Warnemuende port. It is a lot cheaper than things you book via a ship, even though it is pricey overall.

Our tour guide Johnny was wonderful!!!! Our driver picked us up from the cruise port and drove us to Berlin to meet our guide Johnny. It was only our family of four. Johnny was very knowledgable about the history of Berlin and showed us all the major sites to see in Berlin. We were even able to make a few special requests as well and Johnny fit our requests into the day. For lunch we were taken to a wonderful restaurant that we would never have known about without our guide. Highly recommended. Great price compared to the Princess Regal Shore excursion to Berlin that had a huge bus of people. We were able to see so much more of Berlin with our group of four!!!

Walter was excellent. He is highly informed, very patient, and gave us a thorough and panoramic tour of Berlin in a spacious and comfortable vehicle.

This Excursion was the best of all offered on our 11 day Baltic cruise. Our driver picked the four of us on time right at the dock in a new Mercedes van and had us in Berlin two and a half hours later where we met our guide for the day Rick who is from the US. Rick was an excellent guide, very easy going and very knowledgeable with Berlin history particularly the Cold War era East and West Germany and WW II. Because there were only 6 of us we had easy access to places the larger tour groups never get to see plus the usual tourist spots such as Check Point Charlie and Brandenburg Gate. He even took us to his favourite restaurant for lunch which turned out to be the highlight of the day. Very well done Viator, this was an excellent choice!!

This private tour was one of our best! Our driver was waiting for us with a sign as we left the cruise ship, we drove in an air conditioned van with a bathroom stop on the way 2 1/2 hour drive, and we met Ryan our tour guide in Berlin. He was extremely knowledgeable and took us to every important stop with a full story on the history of each site. He was, by far, the best tour guide we have had. It was well worth the money!
