Warnemünde Shore Excursion: Private Berlin Jewish History Tour

About this activity
Meet your driver outside Warnemünde Port, and then hop inside your luxury vehicle for the 2.5-hour journey to Berlin, where you'll meet your guide. The itinerary, as described below, is flexible and can be tailored to your interests.
On entering the city, visit one of Berlin’s big-name sights, Charlottenburg Palace. Pose for a picture in front of the 17th-century structure and then travel to the 'Track 17' Memorial at Grünewald station. Continue to the Holocaust Memorial, a tribute to the six million Jews who died during the Second World War. Here, your guide discusses how Berlin’s Jewish community was once the most important in Europe before its destruction after the ascension of the Nazis. Pay your respects at the stirring memorial, and then travel into the city’s historical heart: the neighborhood of Mitte.
In Mitte, see the site of Berlin’s first synagogue, and pay a visit to the workshop of Otto Weidt, a man often called the ‘Schindler of Berlin’ in recognition of his work helping the city’s Jews during the Holocaust. Continue to Berlin’s first Jewish cemetery, and then spend some time visiting the New Synagogue, an important place of worship that was almost demolished in the Second World War.
After a break for lunch in town (own expense), either spend the rest of your afternoon with your guide or visit an attraction on your own such as the Jewish Museum or the Topography of Terror Exhibition. Pay your entrance fee, and then head inside to browse exhibitions and collections of Jewish artifacts at leisure. Take your time going through the interactive displays of Two Millennia of German Jewish History, a permanent exhibit examining the everyday lives of German Jews from the Middle Ages to present day.
At your prearranged time, return to your vehicle with your guide and relax on the journey back to Warnemünde Port. Your shore excursion then finishes with a port drop-off.
