Stop At: Kamla Park Road Retghat, Professors Colony, Near Upper Lake, Bhopal 462001 India

Located adjacent to the Upper Lake near Raja Bhoj Setu (Cable Stay Bridge), Kamla Park is a prominent green spot, well patronized by the locals for picnics and for strolling both during the early morning and late evening hours. The external facade of

the Park is beautifully decorated with panels which are both modern and eye catching, which adds to the charm of the drive adjacent to the park. It is a place for family to have a breezy time with coconut water lakeside.

Stop At: Gauhar Mahal, VIP Road, Chowki Talaiya, Peer Gate Area, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh 462001, India

Located on the periphery of the Upper Lake just few metres from Kamla Park, is the ancient Gauhar Mahal. It is around 200 years old palace built by the ruler of Bhopal, Qudsia Begum. Its beauty lies in the Indo-Islamic architecture with meandering pathways, paved courtyard and intricate interiors. It is an ode to Bhopal’s rich culture where now exhibitions, fair and sales are held.

Stop At: Moti Masjid Road, Bhopal 462001 India

A left then a right turn from Gauhar Mahal and you’re at the significant shrine, the Moti Masjid. It was built in the year 1860 by Sikander Begum. The history of the mosque is associated with her emancipated deeds and thoughts. She brought a revolution in the

territory and led to architectural development and got many roads, buildings and monuments built, Moti Masjid being one of them. Made of dark red bricks, the main edifice has a marble facade while the main prayer hall is constructed with lustrous white marble that shimmers like a pearl and thus, the mosque got its name as the Pearl Mosque. The mosque is easily accessible through local or private transport. Morning is the best time to visit the mosque as then it is less crowded.

Stop At: Chowk Bazar, Center Of The City, Bhopal India

You name it and you have it at the Chowk Bazar, near Moti Masjid. It is a really old market and has its own charm. The market looks busy all the time and you can get anything and everything you want at the best rates possible. It’s intriguing to see how the sellers have arranged their shops in smallest of streets. The Chowk bazaar is right at the heart of Old Bhopal and gives a peek into the lives and times of the city's erstwhile rulers- the Nawabs.

Stop At: Shaukat Mahal, Chowk Area, Bhopal India

A few metres away from the Moti Masjid one will get to witness one of the architectural curiosities of Bhopal, the Shaukat Mahal. Situated right at the entrance of the Chowk area, the Mahal is a blend of both oriental and occidental styles of architecture. The Shaukat Mahal was another important building constructed during Sikander Begum's tenure. It is a strange mixture of Indo-Islamic and European styles of architecture. It was designed by a Frenchman, a descendant of the Bourbon Kings of France. Post Renaissance and Gothic styles have been combined in an enchanting manner in the building. The building is very different from the rest of the Islamic architecture in the vicinity. The exterior of the palace is also carved with exquisite floral patterns that give the Mahal a very eco-friendly appearance.

Stop At: Sadar Manzil, Royal Enclave Inside The Buildig Sultania Road Near Iqbal Maidian and Hamid Manzil, Bhopal 462001 India

The Shaukat Mahal is flanked by the Sadar Manzil which served as a Hall of Public Audience during the princely period. This brick red building has an ostentatious appearance, and the gardens that surround the palace makes the Manzil look very pretty. Today it serves as the headquarters of Bhopal Municipal Corporation.

Stop At: Taj ul Masajid, Bhopal India

One of the most fascinating sites is the Taj-ul-Masajid. It is the most impressive structure in Bhopal. It is one of the largest and most elegant Muslim mosques in India. The construction of the mosque was started by Sultan Shah Jahan, Begum of Bhopal (1868-1901).The building really presents a spectacular sight and is worth taking a bow to. Its pink facade is topped by two huge white domed minarets pointing upwards to the heavens, as if seeking its blessings. The mosque also has three huge bulbous domes, an impressive main hallway with attractive pillars, marble flooring and a spacious courtyard. It is a must visit site.
