Blue Mountains Two Day Hike and Camp

2 days
About this activity
Day 1

We will meet in Blackheath, the highest village in the Blue Mountains, for an early morning meet and greet. After setting you up with your backpack, tent, sleeping bag, mat and cooking gear, we will start the hike at the famous Govetts Leap lookout, before plunging down into the valley past the epic Bridal Veil falls. From the bottom of the waterfall, we will then hike through moss-filled rainforest to the bottom of the valley. Don't worry about the pace. There will be plenty of time to soak in the mountain air, and even cool yourself off with a waterfall swim.

After stopping for lunch (included), we will hike along the creek through native Australian bush, and arrive at camp at the famous Acacia flat in the afternoon. Your guides will be there to pass on their best camping tips, and show you how to cook up a feast under the stars. Later on, you can take a short stroll into the untouched Blue Gum forest, get up close to trees as old as 600 years, and learn about the history of environmental conservation in the area. Enjoy the serenity, as you are a long way from mobile reception down here. Once the sun sets and you are re-energised from dinner (included), its time for some night time exploration, as we journey with head torches to check out all the nocturnal wildlife by the river - such as frogs, eels, and water dragons. Platypus are known to habitat this area too. Then it is back to the campsite to call it a night in the tent.

Day 2

There is a saying in the Blue Mountains that what goes down must come up. If day one is all about descending into the Grose valley wilderness, day two is about the challenge of climbing back up. After cooking some breakfast (included) and brewing some coffee to warm the soul, this morning starts with some body-loosening Yoga stretches and sun salutations to get you ready for the big climb. We then pack up all our gear, doing our part to conserve the environment by making sure to not leave a trace, and commence our hike back towards Govetts Leap.

On day two, the scenery is just as spectacular, except now you will begin to feel as if you are in your element. On the way up we will stop for lunch (included). Once you reach the top, we finish the hike by saying farewell to new friends and knowing that all the proceeds of the tour go towards helping disadvantaged children with their education, health and welfare. This is a weekend experience like no other.
