About this activity
Start your day at 9 am with a pickup at your Bogotá hotel. You’ll proceed to La Candelaria to begin the rest of the day’s exploration.

The La Candelaria area, which was declared National Monument in 1963, is formed by the intersection of the neighborhoods of “La Cathedral,” “Egipto” and “La Concordia.” The area preserves the buildings built in the 16th century, and its steep, stone-paved, streets all have names dating to the colonial era.

Beginning at Chorro de Quevedo Square, you’ll proceed past attractions including the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History, the Cultural Center Gabriel García Márquez, la Casa de la Moneda, The Botero Museum, Colon Theater, the Museum of Colonial Art, The San Ignacio Church, Plaza Bolivar, The Santa Clara Church Museum, La Casa de Nariño, The San Augustine Cloister, and The Gold Museum, which exhibits about 34,000 pieces of metalwork from various pre-Columbian cultures.

Then take a break for lunch. Enjoy your meal at a typical restaurant before continuing your visit at La Quinta de Bolivar, former home of Simon Bolivar: The day will end here or if you want to visit Monserrate Hill, the route will continue with you ascend to 10,300 feet (3,152 meters) above sea level. Visit this religious complex’s sanctuary, where you will find the statue of the Señor Caído (a statue of Christ inside the church). You’ll also be able to enjoy what many consider the best view in all of Bogotá. You'll transfer back to your hotel at the end of the tour.
