Enjoy a day away from the bustle of Bogotá exploring the first wonder of Colombia and the history of the legend of "El Dorado".

From your accommodation, it is an hour's drive from Zipaquira, home to the legendary salt cathedral.

When you arrive in Zipaquirá, your underground adventure begins. Discover the architectonic achievements of the Bogota architect Roswell Garavito Pearl and learn about the history of salt exploitation in Colombia in the guided tour in English or Spanish with an expert guide within the cathedral and explain it through the Salt Cathedral Zipaquirá's meaning ..

Back in the light, enjoy a typical Colombian meal in one of the best restaurants in Zipaquirá. Enjoy a traditionally prepared meat dish or choose the vegetarian option.

After lunch, you will discover Plaza de la Independencia and the main square of Zipaquirá with its beautiful colonial houses and its old church and take some panoramic pictures of the city. After this brief tour, you will continue to Lake Guatavita.

In a short walk of approximately an hour and a half guided in English or Spanish by a local guide of the reserve, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape and discover the birthplace of the legend of El Dorado, learning about the meaning of the lagoon for the Muisca Indians and his story.

Long day out to the north of Bogota which offers a range of experiences - geography, history, attractive townships and the famous salt cathedral - with a personal guide and driver.

Started my Colombia adventures with this magnificent excursion to the Salt Cathedral. It is not to be missed. Really a fabulous experience. Local lunch was good and gave you a feel for how the locals eat. And the hike up to the Lagoon will help you get rid of those calories that you consume while on vacation.

stunning day out. The walk up to the lake top was worth it as the lake looked amazing. The salt Cathedral was spectacular. the guide made the day and even helped make the Bogota traffic jams fly by. she was very knowledgeable and managed to answer most of my questions. If your in Bogota and can find a spare day do this tour

The tour to these sites was excellent! Booking online was easy. The local guide and driver arrived at my hotel on time to pick me up and take me out to the sites. The guide had great English and was very knowledgeable about the local area, the sites, the county and any other questions I could throw at her. She organized the logistics and local tours very well so there was no downtime waiting for certain tours etc to begin. I could not fault anything in regards to this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in seeing some cool places outside of Bogota. It's a big day, but certainly worth cramming in both sites in the one day to maximize the travel time.

Andrea the guide was AMAZING! I don't give 5 stars easily, but she was just epic! And Andreas the driver was great also. It was a long day, and traffic home was congested, but not even that could deter from the day. The Salt Cathedral was so lovely - and the walk to see Lake Guatavita while more than I anticipated was still quite comfortable and well worth it. Because it wasn't raining in the morning we visited the lake first, which was good. Andrea gave me enough time to look around the other towns, and helped me get a few extra things. Definitely recommend this trip!!!

The trip was a wonderful way to spend our last day in Bogota. Our guide, Paola, was friendly and very informative. The lake was beautiful and customs and history of the indigenous people interesting. The salt cathedral was much more impressive than expected. Highly recommended.
