Itinerary

A trip with an electric bike through history and nature. This daily travel itinerary will let you dive in the Bologna Apennines. You will admire the Suviana and Brasimone lakes, enjoy a traditional lunch and get in the artistic and historic Apennines villages. The last surprise on the road it will be the sight of the amazing Rocchetta Mattei Castle. Let’s explore together with an e-bike.

A short train journey, will bring us to take our e-bikes. Just the time to wear helmet and technical clothing, to regulate the bicycle and to receive all the information about it, then we will be ready to live this new adventure.
We start immediately to go up, because we do not want to waste time! The electric motor will greatly help our legs. We will climb up to Grizzana Morandi, named in honour of the famous painter Giorgio Morandi, then continue towards Monteacuto Ragazza and still climbing up to the Vigo ridge and Passo dello Zanchetto. From here, we will finally go down for a triumphal and panoramic arrival in Brasimone Lake. Let’s take a break by the lake.
We leave the lake behind us for a short bike ride into the Poranceto wood, characterized by chestnut trees and other ancient trees. Here, we will be able to visit the Wood Museum, a space dedicated to the environment of the wood and to the traditional cultivation of chestnut trees, where there is also the reconstruction of a dryer, once used to dry chestnuts, and a coal bin.
We will then cross some small Appennines villages, between narrow hairpin bends and breathtaking views, until we get to Suviana Lake. We will walk down the road on the old dam, which dominates the valley with its 90 meters high, until we arrive at a small inn where we can taste the authentic mountain cuisine.
Our belly is full but fortunately we start off again downhill: we will follow the Limentra stream until we find ourselves at the foot of the majestic Rocchetta Mattei castle, before leaving our e-bikes and returning to Bologna.

The price for children is referred to transport on a baby seat (approved up to 22kg), and only one child is allowed per bicycle; at the time of booking, please consider the distribution of children in relation to the adults; seats are available upon request at the time of booking; the price for children includes return train tickets and lunch.
In case of bad weather, failure to adhere to a minimum number of participants or every condition that make it impossible for the activities to be carried out properly, the staff reserves the right to cancel the tour, giving timely notice to the participants and guaranteeing a full refund or issuing a voucher that can be used to participate in the next tour or for the purchase of an alternative tour.
