About this activity
Take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan at 1:30pm or 2pm (depending on the season) in central Bordeaux, then spin out of the city toward Saint-Émilion to begin your 5-hour tour. Along the way, listen as your local guide shares information about Bordeaux’s winemaking history and enjoy sweeping views over the rolling hillsides.

On arrival in Saint-Émilion, enjoy a short stroll through the medieval streets with your guide followed by a wine-tasting at a local wine cellar. Here, learn of the grape varietals like merlot and cabernet franc, and gain insight into the flavors they create in your glass.

Head onward to a Grand Cru winery to enjoy a private visit and tasting. As you taste the wines, learn what makes Bordeaux wine so unique!

Finally, visit a family-owned winery and sample local specialties such as cured meats and/or traditional French cheeses . Savor the flavors the locals love, and learn how to match the food with your wine. When your final tasting comes to an end, return in comfort to your starting point in central Bordeaux to conclude your tour.

Our host/guide Jon was fantastic. He knows a lot about wine, food, and Bordeaux. I highly recommend the small group tours, they are worth the extra money to have a more private experience. We got to know some of the people in our group and made new friends. I have been to a lot of wineries, I live near Napa/Amador/and Lodi wine countries in California and am a member of several wineries and I promise that you will never learn as much as you will going on this wine tour to 2 wineries in Bordeaux. The wines are very good and you will enjoy the time to walk around in Saint Emilion where you will get a spectacular view of the small town. The food pairing is also a nice treat just when you start to feel that you need a snack. If you need advice for while you are in Bordeaux, I suggest contacting the tour company directly, they are happy to help. We got lucky and Jon was able to recommend a restaurant for dinner and call and make us reservations that day, but this is not a gamble you should take if you want to make sure you dine at one of the best restaurants in Bordeaux, try to book in advance of your trip.

This was a terrific tour with a terrific guide, Jonathan. We visited two wineries, learned about the classification of wines, did some wine tasting and visited the small town of Saint-Emilion and its beautiful churches. Jonathan was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and winemaking.

Chloe was an absolute treat to have as a guide on our tour! She had great stories about the areas and the historical knowledge was perfect! The wine was truly great and the small group we were with made it even better! I would absolutely recommend this tour! This area was stunning and great wine!

This tour was way better that expected. Camille was a great host, and shared a lot of great information. And of course the wine tasting was amazing. Will definitely recommend this tour.
