Day trip to Praid salt mine and biggest statue of Jesus in Eastern Europe

You will be picked up from your hotel in Brasov and driven to the village of Praid, in Harghita county. Here, you will descend deep into the underground salt deposit in a bus and then take a walking tour of the impressive salt mine. There are 15.6 degrees Celsius inside, so dress adequately. You will have time to wander around the huge salt galleries. Besides admiring the 20 million years old salt layers, inside you can play pool or table tennis, watch movies, enjoy an underground adventure park or just relax and breathe the therapeutic salty air.

After returning to surface, you will be taken near the village of Bisericani, on top of a hill where you will climb inside the ”Heart of Jesus”, the biggest statue of Jesus in Eastern Europe. The 22 meter (72 ft) tall metal structure is situated on top of Gordon hill and can be climbed thanks to an inside ladder that will take you on top of its head, from where you can see a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area. Its shape and design makes it one of the most unique representations of Jesus in the world, that is for sure.

If there is time, on your way back to Brașov, you can visit the Racoș Geological Complex: the Emerald Lake, the Basalt Columns and the fascinating volcanic canyon.

In the end you will be dropped off at your hotel in Brașov.
