About this activity
This is a coastal Barbados tour that takes you through historic Bridgetown onto the affluent West Coast, through Holetown, through Speightstown, continuing onto North Point. Travel through the northern countryside to Cherry Tree Hill and onto the East Coast, making a picture stop at Bathsheba. From there to the St. John's Church onward to the Sunbury Great House where you do a tour of the old plantation house and enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch. Afterward, you continue on through Oistins completing your coastal Barbados tour. The East Coast of Barbados is well known for its rugged beauty. The Atlantic rollers break on the large rocks at sea to form beautiful mist and foam. Oistins is a small fishing village located in the southern area of the parish of Christ Church. The area attracts both visitors and tourist alike for its "Fish Fry" and lime which occurs every night from Thursday thru to Saturday. Oistins is also near one of the more popular beaches, Miami Beach, where locals and visitors can have a swim in the cool waters. Sunbury Plantation House is over 300 years old, steeped in history, featuring mahogany antiques, old prints and a unique collection of horse-drawn carriages.This is the only great house, with all rooms available for viewing. The Courtyard Restaurant and bar offer refreshments to visitors daily. Bridgetown is the capital and largest city of the island of Barbados situated in the parish of Saint Michael. The city also houses the Parliament Building which has the meeting chambers for both houses of government since 1874. Tour Holetown, situated in the parish of St. James the first settlement on the island by the British. The town gets its name from the geography of the area which provided a safe landing place for settlers. The town was also known as Jamestown. Speightstown is the second largest town center of Barbados. It is the location to the north of the capital city of Bridgetown, in the northern parish of Saint Peter. The town is named after William Speight the former owner of the land where the town is located. Tour picturesque Cherry Tree Hill, a village in the parish of St. Andrew in Barbados. It is believed that cherry trees lined the hill at some point, which has since been replaced by mahogany trees. This location offers some excellent vistas for the avid photographer.
