Bath and Stonehenge

In the morning we visit one of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world - a ‘must see’ during any stay in Britain. With more than 5000 years of history, Stonehenge remains one of the world’s great unsolved mysteries. The monument endures as a source of inspiration and fascination and, for many, a place of worship and celebration. An audio tour will accompany our walk around the stones.

Stonehenge now has a transformed visitor experience, with a new world class visitor centre, housing permanent and temporary exhibitions, plus a spacious shop and cafe. At the stone circle a sense of context and dignity is returned to the monument; Stonehenge now reunited with it’s ancient approach, the Avenue, and the surrounding landscape open for exploration.

In the afternoon we take the scenic drive to Bath. With over 2000 years of history, and elegant honey-coloured Georgian houses, no other city can rival its breathtaking architecture. We see the Royal Crescent, the Circus, Assembly Rooms, and delightful Pulteney Bridge. We also learn how the Romans arrived in Bath in the 1st Century, discovered Britain’s only existing hot water springs, and built a bathing complex. It now stands as Britain’s greatest memorial to the Roman era.
