About this activity
Your driver guide will meet you at the entrance to the IBIS Hotel on Queens Road, Brighton, in front of the main train station. After welcoming you aboard we will then begin our journey in to the South Downs to experience its vies, stories and especially some of its fine produce.

Our first stop on the tour will be Devil's Dyke. Devil's Dyke sits high up on the South Downs and offers far reaching views along the ridge of hills and also north over the low lying Weald. Devil's dyke is a great place to truly understand what makes the South Downs so special and your guide will lead you through it's natural history. Whilst we are here your guide will also tell you the story of the legend as to why this place is called Devil's Dyke.

Our next stop on the tour is a short 25 minute journey to Middle Farm, a traditional Sussex Farm that has been run by the same family for generations. Middle Farm is a very well known foodie stop in Sussex with many products from the farm and other local producers but at it's heart is the National Cider Collection, all housed in a collection of traditional flint stoned barns. The collection has been built up over the last 25 years and it's custodian Rod will talk you through the different types of ciders along with tastings.

We carry on with the theme of drink and make our way through the beautiful Cuckmere Valley towards the award winning Longman Brewery. On our way to the brewery we will make a stop at the Longman, a chalk carving of the human figure that has dominated the valley for centuries. Nearby is the Longman Brewery, again housed in traditional flint stone barns, the brewery is part of Church Farm that owns a lot of the farmland in the valley and they produce their own barley and the water comes from under the farm itself.

Once at the brewery there will be a tour led by one of the brewers taking you through the whole process that leads to the award winning beers that are produced. At the end of the tour there will be a tasting of four beers in the visitor centre. After all that drink it's time for some food, we make the short journey in to the picturesque South Downs village of, Litlington where we will find the traditional country pub,

One of the highlights of the South Downs National Park are the iconic white cliffs of the Seven Sisters, and it is the views of the cliffs that will finish our day out. Once everyone has finished their meals we will take the 20 minute journey to Seaford Head. We will spend about 45 minutes walking around the headland enjoying the cliffs from various angles.

On returning to the bus we will then make our way back to Brighton Station, a journey of about 40 minutes. As we drive through the centre of Brighton we can make a stop at Brighton Pier so if anyone would like to enjoy the sights and sounds of Britain's favourite seaside city you can.
