About this activity
On this tour, you will discover the famous karst area full of caves, chasms, and rocks. You will visit the most beautiful and the longest cave Sloup with two floors and enchanting stalactite Katerinska cave. First, you will go to the Sloup (column) - Sosuvka caves is an important place where cave carcasses animal (bear, lion, hyena) have been found. Elizabeth's Cave With its rich decoration Stalactite also has an excellent acoustics and that is why it is sometimes used for chamber music concerts. During reconstruction in 1997, the terraced chasm was spanned by a bridge and a new nontraditional view revealed to the visitors. Nagel Chasm, 80 meters in depth, with the greatest underground abyss of this type in the Czech Republic. From the two-platform bridges, the visitors can look down to the bottom. Since 1997 a part of the sight-seeing tour is world-famous archeological locality - Shed Cave - Where a part Neanderthal man's skull, about 120,000 years old, was found. Sosuvka's area, discovered at the beginning of 20th century is characterized by fragile and color Stalactite and Stalagmite decoration. Th route in Sloup-Sosuvkacaves is adapted for wheelchairs. After lunch, you will visit the Katerinska cave which can be found in the deep canyon of the Suchy Zleb. The access is through an entrance corridor leading to the Main Hall, known for ages. With the size of 95 by 44 by 20 m, the Main Hall is the largest underground space accessible to the public to be found on the territory of the Czech Republic. For its excellent acoustics, the cave is occasionally used for vocal and instrumental concerts. The beauties of the cave include the stalagmite Witch, lit by spot-lights of different colors. The entrance portal is a significant archaeological and paleontological monument. There is also the unique finding of a mass of skeletons of cave bears in one of the chimneys of the cave.
