About this activity
Day 1: Bucharest - Curtea de Arges - Sibiu
With your proffessional tourguide/driver, you can sit back and relax as you enjoy the views while we head to Sibiu. On the way we visit the Royal Cathedral of Curtea de Arges and continue with a visit to Cozia Monastery, built by Mircea the Old in 1386 and decorated also in the "brancovenesc" style, a unique romanian architecture. Following we will arrive in Sibiu, the city which was chosen as The European Capital of Culture in 2007 along with the city of Luxembourg. Enjoy a visit of the old town with its amazing squares and overnight in the oldtown in a modern central 4* Hotel
Day 2: Sibiu - Sighisoara - Bistrita
After the breakfast you will discover the scenic roads of Transylvania with its medieval cities, included Sighisoara, Unescco heritage and also the city where Vlad Tepes (The Impaler) was born. You can serve a tasty transilvanian dinner right in his house and after a guided tour of the city we will head to Bistrita through the beautiful city of Targu Mures where we will stop for a short tour of the city center. Overnight in Hotel Coroana de Aur 4* (Golden Crown) where stayed also Jonathan Harker in the novel of Bram Stoker in Bistrita.
Day 3: Bistrita - Gura Humorului - Radauti
We have breakfast and depart to Bucovina that means “land covered by forests of beech trees”. There is no other place in the world like Bucovina in North Moldavia, where a group of Orthodox monasteries with their external wall paintings can be admired. These painted monasteries are part of the UNESCO World Heritage for their rarity and beauty. Visit two of the most important monasteries from Bucovina: Moldovita and Sucevita monasteries. Overnight in Hotel Gerald's 4* in Radauti or Best Western 4* in Gura Humorului.
Day 4: Radauti – Agapia – Piatra Neamt
We have breakfast in the hotel, then we visit Humor Monastery, then Voronet Monastery (Voronet became famous among art lovers thanks to two features of its painting: blue, made with a formula still unknown, called "blue Voronet" and the magnificent scene depicting "The Last Judgement"). We have lunch and continue our journey to Piatra Neamt with a visit to the Monastery Agapia with a visit of the Living Museum where you can see exactly how are the houses of the nouns and also a visit of the weavers and painting workshops. Overnight in Hotel Central Plaza 4* in Piatra Neamt.
Day 5: Piatra Neamt - Vrancea Wineries - Muddy Vulcanoes - Bucharest
Today you will enjoy a visit of the area of Vrancea with its 20 wine cellars. Beciul Domnesc is one of the most well known, also a historic monument. According to documents, this cellar has been around since the age of kind Stephen the Great – the 15th century. After a visit of the vineyards you will have a visit of the muddy volcanoes from Buzau and back to Bucharest.
