Day 1: Danube Gorge and the face of the King Decebal

Stop At: Cazanele Mici
We will take the boat to pass through the most spectacular part of the Danube's Gorge. The Danube Cauldrons area is one of the 18 natural areas protected in the Natural Park Portile de Fier. You will practically navigate at the border between Romania and Serbia, the distance between the two mountains on each side being between 150 and 300 meters. Simply unique view.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Pestera Ponicova, Dubova, Mehedinti County, Southwest Romania
The Gura Ponicovei cave is one of the most spectacular caves in the Danube Cauldrons. It is also known as the Bat Cave due to many colonies of bats that live in the Gallery of the Bats. The cave has several fossil galleries, where there are formations of different shapes and sizes.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Rock Sculpture of Decebalus
From the boat we will have an amazing view on the face of our last Dacian king carved in stone and find out about the ancient history of Romania. This is the biggest rock sculpture in Europe, having 40 m tall and 25 m wide.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Pestera Veterani, Orsova, Mehedinti County, Southwest Romania
It is reachable only from water is a small 90 m long cave. It has an entrance of not more than 3 m, blotted out by trees. You can reach it through a wooden small bridge. The cave was inhabited by man since prehistory, being considered by the Dacians the sanctuary of Zamolxis.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Golful Dubova
We will have a hike on Ciucarul Mare peak which will give us an outstanding view on Dubova Bay. The trail requires some physical effort, but it is totally worth it.
Duration: 3 hours

Day 2: Hiking day

Stop At: Cascada Beușnița
The rocky Beusnita waterfall is entirely covered in moss and the water spreads allover it, visible even if it is a very hot summer.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Ochiul Beiului Lake, Sasca Montana, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
With a surface of 284 m² and a maximum depth of 3.6m, Ochiul Beiului Lake has a bright turquoise color, due to the light reflecting on the lake bed sediments and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the water. The lake is continuously filled with fresh water from an underground spring, so even in winter season it doesn’t freeze.

Day 3: Ride a train built in 1914

Stop At: Oravita – Anina Railway, Oravita, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
Take an incredible train ride in passenger cars with wooden seats, built in 1914. The route is nicknamed the "Semmering of Banat" because of its similarity to the railway"Semmering " in Austria, built between 1845-1854. The tunnels were drilled by chisel and pick; the dynamite had not yet been invented back then. The railway Oravita-Anina has a length of 34 km. Should we mention the view through the mountains?

Day 4: Hiking Day 2

Stop At: Susara Waterfall, Sasca Montana, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
Cascada Susara or Cascadele Şuşara is a 15 meter high waterfall. In this case it is not only the waterfall, but the hike towards it is simply astonishing.

Stop At: Devil's Lake, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
The Devil’s Lake is a karst lake – a lake in a subterranean hollow – and the biggest of its kind in Romania. It used to be a subterranean lake, in a cave, but one of the walls of the cave collapsed and brought it to the surface. The lake covers a surface of 700 m and has a depth of 12 m. Its color is blue-green but it varies according to the color of the sky and to the light.

Day 5: Natural Building workshop

Stop At: Pensiunea Cheile Nerei
Since we will camp at the first ever natural house built in Romania from cob, we will take the advantage to do a half day workshop on natural constructions, of course practical. You will have the chance to use your hands in order to build amazing decorations or structures.
The day will be completed by bathing in the river Nera and sunbathing if the sun allows us.

Day 6: The most beautiful waterfall in the world and water mills

Stop At: Cascada Bigar, Poneasca, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
the rounded waterfall is almost eight meters high, and falls over an unusual and dramatic green carpet of moss. Unlike more roaring falls, this waterwork flows over the apex of a fat, rounded stone, and is diverted into a sheet of countless small streams that issue from the bottom of the stone which juts out over the basin below. In 2013, it received the title of the most beautiful waterfall in the world.

Stop At: Rudariei Watermills, Eftimie Murgu, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
Cheile Rudariei are quite famous and popular in the Banat region as its magnificent panoramas, the watermills, old cabins built on the river side take the breath away of every tourist and visitor. Cheile Rudariei is also the location of the largest complex of the southeastern European region: Complexul Mulinologic de la Rudaria. The complex consists of several watermills along Rudaria Valley which were first installed a long time ago and in the beginning of the 20th century were considered historic monuments, as they represent an important part of the national heritage.

Stop At: Muzeul de Locomotive (Steam Locomotive Museum), Resita, Caras-Severin County, Western Romania, Transylvania
It holds a collection of sixteen locomotives of which fourteen were built in Resita, including Resicza, an 0-4-0 tank locomotive designed by John Haswell, the first to be built in the town, which is displayed on a plinth. One of the principal exhibits is a locomotive of 1936, which pulled a train carrying the king of Romania to Milan, and was then used by the Romanian president Nicolae Ceauşescu to host visiting foreign statesmen.
