Bellu Cemetery Tour

You will meet your tour guide in front of Bellu Cemetery at the time you choose from the departing hours. The duration of the tour is around 2 hours, there is no entrance fee.

The walking tour starts with the history of this 19th century cemetery built where once a monastery and a garden of oranges existed. Your guide will show you the most famous monuments, like the works of art built by Ion Mincu, one of Romania's most important architects, the heart-moving statue of Sophia Mavrodin, the bizzare chapel of Iulia Hasdeu or the statues of the Poroineanu Brothers. 

Walking along the narrow alleys, you'll see also less-known chapels that are nonetheless enchanting, some intimate, some impressive, all fascinating, belonging to the richest families from Bucharest's old days of glory, before the Second World War. The tour includes also a visit to the main church of the cemetery.

For groups of maximum 3 people, a drop-off to central Bucharest is included in the price of the tour.
