Bucharest is a large city with a rich past and many landmarks across its urban landscape. Fitting in all of these is hard to do by foot.

Continue the tour with a drive through the central and northern parts of Bucharest along the city’s famous boulevards inspired by Paris: Calea Victoriei, Aviator and Kiseleff Boulevards.

See the many splendid 19th century French style palaces. Like the Cantacuzino Palace and landmarks like the University building, the Triumphal Arch or the Romanian Athenaeum concert hall.

Bucharest’s architecture is an interesting mix of Western classical architecture with that from the communist era. This tour will show you both sides of the city’s heritage. You’ll see some of the greatest structures built by the communist regime: the Spark House, the Military Academy, the Opera House. The Radio House, the former Communist Headquarters standing in the Revolution Square, and the most famous of all: the Palace of the Parliament, where you’ll have a stop with an extensive commentary from the guide.

The largest administrative building in Europe, this palace is a monumental construction made under the command of the megalomaniac dictator Ceausescu. You will not only be shocked by the sheer size of this building, but also by the story of how it was made, which saw over 20,000 houses destroyed in the central part of Bucharest.

The tour concludes with a relaxing stroll around the fascinating Old Town with its quaint cobblestone streets, medieval Oriental inns, small 19th century merchant houses and imposing palaces. During the walk, you’ll discover such highlights as: Stavropoleos Monastery, Manuc’s Inn, the History Museum, the National Bank, Macca Villacrosse Passage.

Once here you’ll also experience this quarter’s lively atmosphere which has witnessed a great revival in the last years having opened many cozy restaurants, cafes and shops.
