About this activity

Start your journey towards Bulgaria, and pass over the Danube River, the second largest river in Europe. Close to the Romanian border, you will find the charismatic city of Veliko Tarnovo. Once you stepped through its streets, you will feel like you traveled back in time. While taking a stroll through the cobbled streets, your professional guide will tell you more about the history of this city, which used to be the Capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. You will then visit the Tsarevets Fortress, surrounded by its thick walls and strategically positioned on top of a hill.

Afterward, you will head to the market, which consists of two streets bordered by shops, craftsmen's workshops and inns. Here, you can purchase souvenirs which will remind you of this city and of its atmosphere. After that, you will head back towards Bucharest and make a stop near the village of Arbanassi, renowned for its mural paintings, where we will visit the Nativity Church.
