After meeting your guide, you’ll be taken to Castle Hill, a limestone plateau more than half a mile (1 km) long situated 557 feet (170 meters) above the Danube River.
Listen to your professional guide provide a history of Castle Hill, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The first residents arrived here in the 13th century after the Mongolian invasion and shortly after built the Royal Palace, destroyed and rebuilt several times. The varied architecture you see in Castle Hill, including Gothic arches and 18th century Baroque houses, reflects the Italian and Turkish influences that followed. As you stroll around this place teeming with history, enjoy amazing views of the city.
Follow your guide to other parts of Castle Hill, also referred to as the Buda Castle district, to the Hungarian National Gallery, the National Library and the Castle Theatre, a former Carmelite church converted into a theater in 1784, still functioning as a theater today. Admire the Neo-Classicist style of Sándor Palace, the official residence of the Hungarian president.
After Castle Hill, take a short ride on the funicular railway, a charming cable car system built in 1870, to reach Adam Clark Square, from where you’ll cross the Chain Bridge, a suspension bridge over the Danube River connecting the Buda and Pest (eastern and western) sides of the city.
Climb aboard a boat and during the one-hour ride along the gorgeous Danube, enjoy a soft drink (provided) and absorb more fantastic views of the water and city. The tour ends at the city center pier.

Our guide was outstanding and did an amazing job. He was as excited to give the tour as we were to take it and his enthusiasm was contagious. This tour was wonderful and there is just so much to see in Budapest. I finished this tour feeling like a I had a much better understanding of the city as a whole.
